Hyderabad MMTS trains are started in 2003 year with 190 crores when andhra pradesh was united. Deputy Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani has started these mmts train services in Hyderabad. Nara chandra babu naidu was the chief minister of united Andhra Aradesh at that time. These MMTS trains utilize the same tracks used by general trains in Hyderabad, the only thing newly constructed was some new MMTS train stations. The old stations are lingampally, begumpet, hafeezpet and Falaknuma, rest all are new stations. The trains runs so many trips between ligampally to falaknuma, lingampally to hyderabad, lingampally to secunderabad, falaknuma to lingampally and falaknuma to Hyderabad.

MMTS trains services are using by 1.5 lakh travelers daily to reach their destination places in Hyderabad and Secunderabad twin cities in Hyderabad city. The Telangana government is building the pressure to speed to MMTS Phase 2 project so that MMTS trains useful to more number of travelers and the target is to serve more than 5 lakhs. In the next one year the new routes are getting build up from Secunderabad to Manoharabad and Secunderabad to Ghatkesar. Firve new mmts stations are being constructed between sanath nagar and moulali stations. Newly being constructed stations are Firoz guda, Suchitra Centre, Bhudevi nagar, neredmet, moulali HB colony and other stations such as lalaguda , malkajgiri, dayanand nagar, safilguda, ramakrishna puram, ammuguda, kavelery barax, alwal, moulai, bollaram, charlapalli, bibi nagar, ghatkesar and padigi palli being improved to serve mmts trains.
MMTS stands Multi Model Transport Sysem which is having total length of 44 km and mmts trains runs on broad gauge which covers 27 mmts stations. These all MMTS train stations are having ATVMs which stands for Automatic ticket vending machines. In 2007 state government and central government started issuing season tickets which we can use either in MMTS trains or city buses. In 2010 the density got increased due to city traffic conditions then MMTS coaches got increased from 6 to 9 for every train. Each engine can handle 3 bogies generally. From 2011 the mmts train trips increased to 121 per day.
Below is the MMTS route map which shows the no of stations which come across every route, based on the traffic the south central railways increase the frequency every year. Lingampally to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Lingampally, Lingampally to Falaknuma and Falaknuma to Lingampally, Lingampally to Secunderabad, and Secunderabad to Lingampally, Falaknuma to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Falaknuma, etc. The phase 2 work is speeding up now as Telangana government is sharing two thirds of the expenditure and rest of the amount by Central Governemnt Indian Railways.
